Our Scout Group was founded in 11th February 1975 as the Mount Carmel College Scout Group by Fr Renato Valente who was then Rector of the College. The Group was an immediate success and quickly became very popular with the students. The Group functioned normally until 1984 when due to various circumstances, it was forced to leave the College and in 1985 it established itself in St Venera under the name of Mount Carmel Scout Group (St Venera). On its 20th Anniversary, in 1995, the Group made the third and final change to its name by becoming the St Venera Scout Group.

Notwithstanding the many problems faced by the Group Leadership it always managed to maintain a high standard in Scouting. This aim was maintained from the start in spite of the many difficulties which hindered its operation.
In 1995 in view of the imminent expiry of the rent contract, an important decision was taken by the GSL to embark on an ambitious project for the Group to build its own Headquarters and therefore solve this problem once and for all. Work on the construction started in January 2000 and first meeting in the new HQ was held on the 3rd November 2001. The Group now had a secure base from where to operate from and thus assured itself of a bright future. It could now look forward with enthusiasm knowing that finally it had a home.
